I would expect the seller to provide a bill of sale at the very least. In California, a junk yard has to have a title [pink slip] for every car in the yard, otherwise the car can be presumed to be stolen. I don't know what state you are in, but it seems that would be true everywhere these days. Good luck with your project, but don't sink any money into until you have a clear title.
