Every year the club attends the bug and monster show and costa mesa and the biggest event is the holloween display contest.
Members spend a great deal of time decorating thier cars for this show and have a great time doing it and hope to take home a trophy for thier efforts.

As for my comparison of halloween and car people.
Car people look under the hood first before buying.
Halloween people will look at the cool casket in the back.
If you can be both that's great.

Smart Halloween people (or anyone) who's not willing to do or pay for repairs will bring along a mechanic friend to look over the car.
I recently purchased a '77 Superior Crown and had a good friend with years of buying and owning hearses check out the car before I did.
He crawled under the car to check for rust (none).
He looked over the engine, tranny cooling and elecrical systems etc.
Why did he go first even though I'm pretty good with cars?
Because I fell in love with the car when I saw the pics and knew this might cloud the fact that it's still a car. Repairs and restoration is expensive and this friend would give a brutaly honest opinion about the car.

When I first joined the club I voiced that I liked down sized ('77 and later coaches).
Many members at that time thought these cars were lame and suggested I should look for a "real" hearse.
Depending on the person this was '76 or older/'70 or older/'64 or older.
Well I did end up buy a couple of "real" coaches mainly because they showed up at the right time and loved every one of them up to the day I sold them.
Now I own the body style I first set out to buy. But with that experience I was able to find a '77 that I could live with and enjoy for a long time and had I bought the '77 I "fell in love with" 6 years ago I would have been unhappy.
Being a down size coach fan is worse than decorating a coach in some peoples opinions so I can understand what your saying.

Halloween is a big deal for most of our members.
Most spend months and lots of money on decorating thier houses/hearses in hopes to have the coolest
house/hearse on the block or in the club.
As I said in the post below, It's your car so do what ever the heck you want to do with it and screw anyone who doesn't like it.

Personally, I celebrate Samhain, hold a black mass, kill a cat and use my coach to rob graves.(Kidding)

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.
Take what you can use and throw away the rest.

I love this club warts and all.
It's not perfect and neither are our members but we all agree on the big picture. HEARSES.
Lines blur after that but we all still get along for the most part.

As you can see, I have very strong opinions at times but don't let it scare you away.
I'm really a big teddy bear.
That's how I got the nickname Clare Bear.

Hugs. Clare Bear
