Hmmm... I didn't have any problems adding it to our insurance. We have USAA (for Military Officer's and thier families) and it is VERY cheap. When I registered my coach at the DMV, I filled in it's description as a station wagon. Maybe if you change it's description with the DMV it will be different.
I did have a truck with a 5th wheel hitch up and it was designated as a commercial vehicle (due to towing capacity and weight), but it was a '76, and still only cost me about $145 for six months of coverage...
