Broken glass is also why I have auto glass insurance on my coach.
Unfortunately I went through a similar thing with the rear on my 68 S&S. According to the interchange books only 67/68 commercial rear would fit. I found one in the local junk yard for $250-. It's at the shop now having the brakes and bearings done before installation.
